The sports advisor for the Bangladeshi government reaffirmed on Wednesday that their national team is unwilling to travel to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup because of "security concerns" and that the International Cricket Council has not comprehended the Bangladesh Cricket Board's concerns.

Following the ICC's response to the board's request for a venue change, Nazrul met with the BCB directors on Wednesday. After being released from the KKR, Bangladesh had asked to move their games from India. According to BCB, the ICC "reiterated its commitment to ensuring the full and uninterrupted participation of the Bangladesh team in the tournament." The ICC has expressed its readiness to collaborate closely with the BCB to resolve the issues brought up, and it has promised that the Board's suggestions will be appreciated and appropriately taken into account as part of the event's comprehensive security planning."

Speaking to the media, Nazrul reiterates his refusal to visit India.

Nazrul, meanwhile, said at a press conference following the meeting with the BCB directors that Bangladesh is unwilling to visit India and that the BCB will send another letter to the international organization to emphasize the matter further.

"Bulbul [Aminul Islam] bhai, Faruque bhai, and the other BCB directors sat with us. We talked about the situation today and came to the conclusion that Bangladesh's hard work earned them a spot in the T20 World Cup. After the meeting on Wednesday, Nazrul told reporters, "We are a cricket-mad country, and we definitely want to play."

However, we do not want to participate in the World Cup at the expense of humiliating our nation, jeopardizing the safety of our players, fans, and journalists, or compromising the dignity of the nation. He stated, "After reading the letter we received from the ICC today, we felt that they did not fully understand the serious security situation that has developed in India for Bangladeshi cricket players."

"In my opinion, it's not just a security concern; it's also a matter of national humiliation. However, we are primarily handling it as a security concern. There is no safe playing environment in India when the Indian cricket board itself tells the Kolkata team that they cannot provide security for this player [Mustafizur] and requests that they remove him from the team," he said.

"Security, honor, and dignity cannot be compromised": Nazrul

Bangladesh does not want to jeopardize its security, honor, or dignity, according to Nazrul. "We do not wish to delve into India's broader communal situation. However, there will be no compromise when it comes to the safety of our cricket players, the safety of Bangladesh, and the honor and dignity of Bangladesh. We want to participate in the World Cup, play cricket, and since Sri Lanka is another host nation, we want to play there. We are adamant about this stance.

Why are we adamant about this stance? We hope we can explain that to the ICC, and we hope the ICC will take a fair look at our arguments and grant us the opportunity to participate in the T20 World Cup that we have worked so hard to earn," he stated.

He stated that the BCB would attempt to convince the athletic body with their compelling arguments. They are adamant about participating in the World Cup.

"We want to persuade the ICC first. We will persuade them with our compelling arguments. The fundamental tenet of our position is that there will be no compromise when it comes to Bangladesh's security, honor, and dignity. However, Nazrul stated, "We absolutely want to play in the Cricket World Cup."

He continued by saying that Bangladesh would consider its future in light of the ICC's response. "We will send the letter [to ICC] tonight or by tomorrow morning, and then we will sit down and decide what to do. As of right now, we have made a clear decision: we will inform the ICC that India is not a safe place for us to play," he stated.
