The start of the new year is tense. As Netflix releases the trailer for Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web, a specialized customs team assumes control. Set inside government customs, the series delves into a high-stakes game of instinct and intelligence where every choice matters and one error could ruin weeks of work.

Emraan Hashmi plays the main character in the series, which will premiere on January 14.

The Taskaree trailer has been released.

Taskaree tracks important smuggling routes that pass through Bangkok, Milan, Addis Ababa, and Al-Dera. It reveals a global network based on forged documents, coded routes, and persistent deception. One of the busiest hubs in the nation, Mumbai International Airport, is home to a sharp customs task force. Go here to view the trailer:

Taskaree: Star cast

The Taskaree cast, which includes officers Mitali Kamath (Amruta Khanvilkar), Ravinder Gujjar (Nandish Singh Sandhu), and Prakash Kumar (Anurag Sinha), is led by Emraan Hashmi as Arjun Meena. Knowing that even a tiny detail can make all the difference, they rely more on intuition than hard data. Bada Chaudhary (Sharad Kelkar), a formidable smuggling mastermind whose syndicate operates covertly via international routes intended to remain undetectable, stands in their way.

Emraan Hashmi and filmmaker Neeraj Pandey discuss Taskaree

Taskaree, which was created by Neeraj Pandey, favors restraint and realism over spectacle. "I've always wanted to explore the world of customs," stated Neeraj Pandey. I was drawn in by the prospect of entering the world of customs enforcement, a place that runs silently, precisely, and under constant pressure. It has been immensely thrilling to bring this vision to life, especially with a cast and crew who were fully committed from the beginning and understood the rhythm and realism the story required. After a successful franchise with Khakee, we are excited to work with Netflix once more. Together, we've produced a very unique crime thriller that is based on sincerity and the hope that we live up to the expectations of our viewers, whose support has always kept us going!

"The love that's been coming in since the teaser has been truly encouraging," Emraan Hashmi said, echoing that sentiment. I've worked with Neeraj and this incredibly talented group for the first time on Taskaree, and it's been a really fulfilling experience. The series' intelligent, grounded approach to heroism—a tale motivated more by duty, discipline, and quiet bravery than by loud bravado—was what caught my attention. I'm excited for viewers to finally see this world on screen because the entire cast and crew have worked tirelessly to make it a reality.

Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web has received the green light after releasing its trailer. On January 14, the series will debut on Netflix.
