It was not an easy decision to postpone the movie, the statement continued. "As soon as possible, the new release date will be announced." "Your unwavering support is our greatest strength and means everything to the entire Jana Nayagan team," the creators said, pleading for patience.
The delay coincides with the Madras High Court postponing its ruling on a petition asking the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue a "UA 16+" certificate to Jana Nayagan. There is a lot of conjecture that this is Vijay's last movie before he completely turns his attention to politics.
The court postponed making a decision in the case after hearing arguments from CBFC and the film's producers. According to Justice Asha, the orders will probably be issued early on January 9. "I'll just say that these kind of complaints are not healthy," the court said to the CBFC prior to reserving orders.
Jana Nayagan currently lacks a censor certificate, and the court's ruling will determine whether or not it is released.
In the meantime, Vijay is the leader of the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and has already declared that he will run in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, which are anticipated to take place in March or April. Fans of the actor are currently waiting for Jana Nayagan's new release date.
